"The following obit for Jennie appeared 19 July 1934 in a local newspaper:
Mrs. Jennie Whittington Bane, 40 years old, wife of Earl R Bane, died at her home in Leetown Wednesday morning, following a long period of ill health. Mrs. Bane was the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. George Whittington, of Jefferson County, both of whom survive.
The deceased was born near Kearneysville and spent her entire life in the county. In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by four small children: Earl Jr., Catherine, Charles and Betty; one sister, Mrs. R.D. Hawn of Shepherdstown, and a brother, Burnett Whittington, of Martinsburg, also survive. The funeral will be held Friday at her late home."
