"[partial] Deposition of Louisa McQuinn 76 yrs old.
It was generally believed about here that Tom Hunley was dead after he failed to come back here. As I remember Hattie had two children by Tom Hunley, girls, but I don't remember their names, I don't know what became of the girls of Hattie's by Hunley. The children grew up, and I understand that they are married, but I don't know name of the men who married them, nor where they are, lost all track of them, but they grew to womanhood, nor where they are. I believe that Hattie married a man named Williams prior to her marriage to Yeager, and while I am not sure, I think it was William Williams and they were married away from here, but I don't know where. I do not know Williams personally. But Williams did not want Hattie's children by Hunley, so she had to put them out, but I did not take her child by Hunley, but it was the illegitimate child I took."

"First child of Hattie was Elizabeth, she was the foster daughter of Nicolas and Louisa Mc Quinn, her mother was Hattie. Thomas Sherman married Elizabeth Jan 12, 1890 or 91, Washington, Daviess County, IN. Children of Eliz was Ester, Murriel or Mary and boy named Bennie, who is dead. The testimony of Thomas Sherman knows of no other children of Hattie."
