Obituary, The New York Times, Thursday, December 2, 1909, Page 9'

Mrs. Anna Randall-Diehl, who died on Monday, was president of the oldest Shakesperean club in America, and one of the most prominent clubwomen of New York City. She was born in Oswego County, New York, and received her education at Falley Seminary in Fulton, New York. She was twice married. Her first husband was Dr. Randall of Fulton. Her second marriage to Dr. Israel S. Diehl, traveler and at one time United States Consul to Java, was followed by a year in Europe, where Mr. Diehl made a large collection of coins, costumes and curios. After Mr. Diehl's death, his widow presented the coins to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington. Mrs. Randall-Diehl wrote and compiled forty books, many of which relate to elocution. She also founded and edited The American Shakespeare Magazine, the first publication of its kind in America. The Fortnightly Shakespeare Club, of which Mrs. Randall-Diehl was the founder, celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary by the president and a number of members holding a Shakesperean symposium in the memorial library at Stratford-on-Avon. Mrs. Randall-Diehl is survived by one child, Mrs. Jessica Mazanovich of New York city."
