Policeman Meagher Dies at 29; a Loyola Graduate
Policeman Emmett John Meagher, a member of the Chicago force since March 1933, died last night in his home at 5457 Winthrop avenue after a long illness. He graduated in 1930 from Loyola University and was president of his class. Surviving are his wife, Anna; a son, Emmett Jr., 2 months old, four sisters and five brothers. Three of the brothers are policemen, Sergt. Thomas F. of the detective bureau, Francis of Summerdale, and Patrick of Town Hall. He was a son of the late Police Captain Thomas Meagher. The funeral will be held Friday morning from the home to St. Ita church.
Emmett's date of burial was October 15, 1937. He is buried in the same plot at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Hillside, IL as both his parents, his sisters Margaret, Anna and Mary and brother Joseph.

- Emmett was born in 1908 and also became a Chicago Police Officer. He died in 1937 at the age of 29 of leukemia. He was very handsome, intelligent and talented.....and greatly mourned by his family, friends and community.
