Shell, James Clark and Aaron Rooks(four families from Tennessee) came together in 1827, and settled in the same neighborhood. . . . Along with Isaac Shell, who went to Shelby County, IL, was Isaac's brother Solomon, who afterward migrated to Missouri. Isaac Martin Shell moved to a farm near Kennet, Dunklin County, MO about 1860. After his death, his family moved to Carruthersville, MO to be near daughter Arthemisia. The son, Irvin, came from IL to take the family back. Isaac is known to still be in Shelby County, IL as late as 1839 based on a land deed, Bureau of Land Management document #8391, dated 1 November 1839: Southeast quarter of the southeast quarter of Section 12, in Township 10 north of Range Four East. Earlier land deed for 40 acres purchased 23 Jul 1833 for $50.00, with deed granted on 16 Oct 1835, Bureau of Land Management document #1674: North east quarter of the north east quarter of Section 21, in Township 11 north of Range Four East.
