"David Thomas, father of Barbara Barnett's husband James [Parsons] Thomas, had come to the Eel River in 1818, and operated a ferry there. James continued at the ferry and, after his father's death [28 Jan 1852, Cass, Clay, IN], also managed the farm on the Eel River."
