The following obit for Nancy appeared in the May 30, 1991 Journal:
Services were conducted Wednesday morning from the Melvin T Strider Colonial Funeral Home for Mrs. Nancy Kathryn Nicely, 88, formerly of Middleway, who died Sunday, May 26 in the Jefferson Manor Nursing Home. The Rev. Gil Cloud officiated, interment was in the Masonic Cemetery in Middleway.
Born September 26, 1902 in Stephens City, Va. she was the daughter of the late Preston and Emma Christman Pifer. She was a lifelong member of the Middleway United Methodist Church, serving as the church organist and a member of the church choir for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Nicely, November 17, 1987; by two children, Charles Lee "Pete" Nicely, March 28, 1979, and Juanita Nicely in infancy; by two grandchildren, Kathryn Lynn Creamer and Clifton Nicely; a sister, Grace Eddy and four brothers, Ernest, Olin, Jacob and Giles Pifer. She is survived by one daughter, Yvonne N Huston, Garden City, South Carolina; 3 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
