- Find-A-Grave: "Oliver G. Hicks was born May 2 1876 to Robert S. Hicks and Martha Mary Alsup. He grew up in Douglas Co. MO and married first Arsulla Hutchinson, they had 2 children Golda and Homer. Homer died when just a lad, Arsulla also died leaving him with his daughter Golda. He married Rosetta Caroline Mason, daughter of "Leck" and Mary Elizabeth Bagsby Mason. Oliver and Rosetta moved their family to Oklahoma in 1922. When Oliver and his famly arrived by train in Chandler Oklahoma in 1922, brothers Jake and Wess Hicks met them; brother Tim Hicks and family came later in covered wagon. All settled northwest of Chandler, Lincoln Co, OK. Rosetta and Oliver had a large family with 9 living to adulthood.
Rosetta died in 1930 leaving Oliver to raise 8 children, Noah had married, the youngest Leo was just 2 years old. Oliver with the help of his older daughters raised the large family and worked the farm in Lincoln Co., during the time of the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression. Oliver was loved and respected by all his children and grandchildren."
