- Here's a good tidbit. I knew my mother's parents well. As a teenager my grandfather left Russia and went to England. Several of his siblings remained there but one came to Boston, found a girlfriend, and urged my grandfather to come meet her. She became my grandmother. But, before leaving England, my grandfather was saying good-bye to his girlfriend there (so says my mother) and he missed the ship. The Titanic!!
