"David Thomas, father of Barbara Barnett's husband James Parsons Thomas, had come to the Eel River [Clay, IN] in 1818, and operated a ferry there. James continued at the ferry and, after his father's death [28 Jan 1852, Cass, Clay, IN], also managed the farm on the Eel River. . . . Children: Shall [Shallum P.] Thomas, b. 1829; he married [Martha A. Unknown] and had a son: name unknown. Betty Thomas, m. Mr. Lamont; they had one son. Bud Thomas, b. Abt. 1833."
