Terre Haute Tribune, Monday, January 2, 1950, p. 10 & Tuesday, January 3, 1950, p. 2:
"Charles O. Craig, 81 years old, well known retired mine boss of Carbon, died at 4:00 this morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Sanford McKinney, 129 Blakely Ave, where he had spent the past two weeks recuperating from an operation. He had spent most of his life in the vicinity of Carbon and was widely known. He was a member of the North Union U.B. Church and the Carbon lodge of I.O.R.M. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Craig, of Carbon; three daughers, Mrs. Earl McQueen, Carbon; Mrs. Sanford McKinney and Mrs. Elson Land, both this city; three sons, Robert and Alva, both north of Carbon, and Fred Craig of this city; 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. . . . Burial will be in Calcutta Cemetery."
