Dean T. Jones, 89

Dean T. Jones, 89, Riverside, Calif., formerly of Missouri Valley, died Feb. 1 in Riverside.
Dean was born April 16, 1914 on a farm near Loveland to Carl and Frances (Morgan) Jones. He was reared in the Missouri Valley community, graduating from Missouri Valley High School in 1933.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he began his military service, Feb. 16, 1943. He fought in the European Theater of Operations under General George S. Patton. Dean received many citations, including a campaign ribbon with two Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts, Silver Star and Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged, Nov. 6, 1945.
Dean was married to the former Lucille Margaret Anderson, Missouri Valley, Feb. 18, 1943. After leaving the military, he joined Roberts Dairy in Omaha as a retail route salesman and soon advanced to become branch manager in Lincoln, Neb.
While working for Roberts, he studied at the Lincoln and Omaha campuses of the University of Nebraska, taking courses in the dairy industry. Dean also held positions with other dairies in the Midwest. In 1962, he joined Sanitary Farm Dairies in Cedar Rapids, becoming president in 1967. He rejoined Roberts Dairy in Omaha in 1972 as assistant branch manager, becoming general manager the next year. He retired from the company several years later. In retirement, Dean worked as a consultant for Westin, Inc.
Dean was the past president of the Nebraska Dairy Industries Association and of the Iowa Dairy Foods Association. He served as a member of a three-man advisory committee to the governor of Nebraska, and was active in the Elks Club, the Masonic Lodge, and the Cornhusker Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Lucille died in Omaha in 1982. She and Dean had been married 39 years. In 1984, Dean moved to Riverside and married the former Della Beebee Stevens, formerly of Logan.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucille; sisters, Wilma Anderson, Helen Martens; and baby sister, Madeline Jones.
Survivors include, his wife, Della, Riverside, Calif.; brother, Donn B. Jones, Sr., Missouri Valley; children, William Jones, Emily, Minn.; Deanne Kadlec, Papillion, Neb.; Robert Jones, Washington, D.C.; Karen Hoschar, Papillion, Neb.; grandchildren, Kelly Kadlec, Tifany Force, Tianna Hoschar, Michael Hoschar, Tracy Jones, Christopher Panosh, Anthony Panosh, and great-grandchildren, Tyler Force, Alaina Force, and Kennedy Kadlec.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, Feb. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home, Missouri Valley.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Missouri Valley, Saturday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m., Pastor Robert Kruempel, officiant. Organist will be Carole Gorham, vocalist will be Rex Gochenour.
Honorary bearers will be Donn Jones, Sr; Karen Hoschar, Deanne Kadlec; and Michael Hoschar.
Casket bearers will be Bob Jones;, Les Kadlec; Donn Jones, Jr.; Will Jones; Kelly Kedlec; and Steve Hoschar.
Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Missouri Valley. Military honors will be provided by Julius Muller Post, American Legion, Missouri Valley.
The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at St. Paul's Lutheran Church following the committal service at the cemetery.

JONES-Dean T., a former resident of Omaha, Neb., who held management positions at the Roberts Dairy Company, died Sunday, Feb. 1, at a nursing home in Riverside, Calif.
