    • Zenor Cemetery, census transcribed, ca. 1970, by Dr. Robert G. Tucker, GRS (1918-1992): "Wright, Elizabeth #41, wife of Elijah Wright, d. 3 Aug 1835 aged 32 yrs. 2 mo. Elijah probably is buried beside her, but his stone is gone. Only an unmarked footstone remains to mark his grave."

      ". . .CHILDREN OF MARY ANN GRAVES AND STEPHEN A. LOWDERMILK. . . . William L. Lowdermilk (#81) was born 27 Sep 1816 in Randolph, NC and died 22 Dec 1892, age 76 years, 3 months, and 10 days. He married Mary Wright, daughter of Elijah [Willis] Wright and Elizabeth Deal on 27 Mar 1842 in Asherville, Clay, IN. She was born 20 Oct 1822 in Harrison, IN and died 17 Oct 1891, age 68 years, 11 months, 27 days. They were both buried in Union Church Cemetery, Asherville, Clay, IN. They had four sons and five daughters, all born in Jackson, Clay, IN.

      Appearing in the 'Eel River Propeller' of 27 Aug 1853, was an article regarding farmers wanting to organize an agricultural society. William L. Lowdermilk was chosen a director from Jackson, Clay, IN. In 1870, William was farming 4,420 acres and worth $19,000.00.

      In an obituary notice for Mary (Wright) Lowdermilk, it stated that she was six years old when her parents [Elijah Willis Wright and Elizabeth Deal] moved [in 1828] to Clay, IN from Harrison, IN. Her mother, [Elizabeth Deal] died [about 1835] before she was grown and she and her siblings became the foster children of Rev. A.W. Hedge."

    This sketch contains information on three generations of the Deal, Wright, and Morgan families.

      "Baldwin H. Witty came to Bowling Green, Indiana in 1832, where he raised a crop of corn which he distilled into whisky and also fed to his stock, and he married there and afterward moved to Posey Township and bought a farm of one hundred sixty acres from Elijah [Willis] Wright, another of the early pioneers of Clay County as well as one of the pioneer teachers. The land was located in section 36, and only forty acres had been cleared, and that farm was his home the remaineder of his life."

      "AMOS H. WRIGHT, farmer and stock-raiser, was born in Washington Township, this [Clay] County, March 26, 1830, and is the youngest son of Elijah and Elizabeth (Deal) Wright, natives respectively of South Carolina and Pennsylvania.

      Elijah Wright emigrated to Indiana in early manhood, located in Harrison County, and married, but in 1827 removed to Clay County, entered 180 acres, and erected a cabin. In 1835, he sold this land and opened a farm on Clay Prairie, where Mrs. Wright died, leaving six children. He subsequently married again, moved to Missouri, and died in 1856, aged fifty-five years. . . ."
