"MIDLOTHIAN, VA. Eugene Thomas Fleischhauer, 77, of Midlothian, died Feb. 12, 1997, in Chesterfield. Mr. Fleischhauer was the son of the late William Henry and Martha Jane (Jenny) Starke Fleischhauer of Richmond.
He graduated from Fort Hill High School in Cumberland. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps in the 12th Air Force in North Africa as a navigator on a B-17. He plane was shot down over Italy and he became a prisoner of war from Sept. 4, 1943, to May 1, 1945, in Stalag Luft I, Barth, Germany.
He graduated from M.I.T. in 1950 and was a research and development engineer as an inventor of new products, and was awarded many patents during his professional life."
He is survived by his wife, Virginia F. Fleischhauer; three sons and their families: Dr. Thomas F. and Karen S. Fleischhauer and children of Apex, N.C.; Jeffrey A. and Lisa C. Fleischhauer and children of Roanoke, VA; and Grier S. and Kristin S. Fleischhauer and children of Midlothian."
