"DG (Eagle Scout) 4016C.01 House Resolution No. 2977
Whereas, the members of the Missouri House of Representatives realize that the rank of Eagle Scout is a performance-based achievement, the proud standards of which have been well maintained for many years; and
Whereas, J. Peyton Waggener of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, will receive the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout during a Court of Honor ceremony to be held on May 23, 2004, at the Elks Lodge; and
Whereas, Peyton, a member of Boy Scout Troop 5, successfully met the requirements to attain Eagle status by completing his Eagle project which involved building an orienteering course at Trail of Tears State Park near Jackson; and
Whereas, during his six years in Scouting, Peyton mastered several challenging and diverse skills to earn thirty-six merit badges, the God and Country award, the Mile Swim award, and Brotherhood membership in the Order of the Arrow; and
Whereas, Peyton demonstrated his capability and willingness to exert leadership by fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of Patrol Leader, Troop Scribe, Patrol Order of the Arrow Advisor, and Webelos Guide; and
Whereas, the son of John and Karen Waggener, Peyton developed immense personal growth and fitness by participating in the many assorted activities the Boy Scouts offers, some of which include going on a Current River canoe trip, a White Water Rafting High Adventure, and High Adventures to Pikes Peak, the Royal Gorge, and Philmont; and
Whereas, Peyton's attainment of the Eagle rank will be recognized at all levels of our society as being a great achievement that required considerable dedication and effort:
Now, therefore, be it resolved that we, the members of the Missouri House of Representatives, Ninety-second General Assembly, join unanimously in extending our most hearty congratulations to Peyton Waggener for the steadfast
determination he displayed in his pursuit to attain the rank of Eagle and in wishing him continued success in all future endeavors; and
Be it further resolved that the Chief Clerk of the Missouri
House of Representatives be instructed to prepare a properly inscribed copy of this resolution for Eagle Scout J. Peyton Waggener.

Peyton Waggener, a 2008 Central High School graduate, was
recently sworn into the Navy at the U.S. Naval Academy in
Annapolis, Md. Waggener is attending the six-week midshipman
training program at the academy."
