"Johnny Eugene Wike, 60, of Johnny Wike Road, Taylorsville, died Monday, February 13, 2006, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Alexander County May 19, 1945, the son of the late Everette Wayne Wike and Jennie Elizabeth Deal Wike. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. A Veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Vietnam war and was a member of V.F.W. Post 10,000 of Hiddenite, the American Legion in Hickory, and was also a charter member of D.A.V. Chapter 84 of Taylorsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Sprinkle Wike of the home; a daughter, Melissa Sweeney and husband Steve of Sanford; a sister, Carolyn Peele and husband Jimmy of Palm Coast, Florida; two brothers, Wayne Wike and wife Betty of Taylorsville, and Kenneth Wike and wife Anita of Moravian Falls; and a grandson, Anthony Lail of Bethlehem."
