Born Nov. 5, 1921, in Alexander County, he was a son of the late Elisha Clay Harrington and Mammie Lee Kerley Harrington.
A member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, he was formerly employed by Walker Plumbing Company. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Boyd Joe Harrington; a brother, Crafton Harrington; and an infant granddaughter.
Survivors include a wife, Sue Childers Harrington; a daughter, Mrs. Terry(Gilda) Harrington Chapman of Taylorsville; two brothers, William Adam Harrington and Harvey Lee Harrington, Sr. both of Taylorsville; six sisters, Mrs. Irene Jones, Mrs. Teen Mitchell, Mrs. Mary Milstead, Mrs. Shirley Brown and Mrs. Bunnie Harrington, all of Taylorsville and Mrs. Jean Cropley of Everett, Wash; three granddaughters, Leslie Chapman, Jill Chapman and Leah Chapman; and a grandson, Bryan Harrington."
