      "Lewis Thomas was married to Sarah/Sally Alexander (daughter of Isaac Alexander) on February 4th, 1809 in Mercer County, KY. He died on May 5, 1859 in Pike County, Indiana (I have not been able to confirm that as Pike County didn't keep records until 1871). They had thirteen children (some of them in KY) which they raised in a log cabin near the small town of Alford, IN [Alford is an unincorporated community near Petersburg, Pike County, IN.] (I have a picture of the cabin).

      One of these children was John Alexander Thomas, born November 18, 1809 in KY. He married a Mary Griffith on March 29, 1829 in Pike County, IN (I can verify for sure this piece of information as I have a copy of the marriage book page from the Pike County Court House). He died January 4, 1893 in Pike County, IN and is buried at the Alford Cemetary in Alford, Pike county, IN."
