On 9 July 1860, John G. (26) and Mary A. (26) Jones lived in Rockford Twp. (Pottawattamie) IA, with their children Nelson (4) and Theodore (2). John G. was a farmer and had a $600 personal estate. Mary A. kept house. Their immediate neighbors were John G.’s sister Mary J. and her family; next to them were John G.’s father Hardin and John G.’s grandmother Elizabeth Jones.
On 12 June 1870, J. G. (35, farmer) and M. A. (35, keeping house) Jones lived in Rockford Twp. (Pottawattamie) IA, with their children Nelson (14), Theodore (12), Parks (10), Elias (8), and John (6). All the children attended school within the yera. J.G.’s father Hardin lived next door.

All could read and write except for the youngest, Foster. Theodore was a farmer, Archie R. was a farm worker, and Vangie, Flossie, Parks, Deal, and Clark were at school 5 months during the past year. Martha A.’s brother Eli Deal and his family lived immediately adjacent.
On 16 Apr 1910, Theodore (51) and Martha A. (43) Jones lived with their children and step-children in Clark Twp., Dewey Co., OK. Flossie was 20, Deal was 19, Parks and Clark were both 17, and Foster was 14. Martha A. is listed as the mother of 2 children, 2 of whom were alive in 1910. Theodore was a farmer and owned his farm, which was mortgaged. Flossie was a teacher at the common school, unemployed on 15 Apr 1910 and for 15 weeks of the preceeding year. Deal and Parks were laborers on the home farm, and Clark was a farm laborer working on another farm. All were literate; Flossie, Clark, and Foster attended school during the past year.

On 23 Jan 1920, Theodore (62) and Martha A. (52) Jones lived with their granddaughter Sibyl L. Jones (6) in a rental house in Putnam, Harrison Twp. (Dewey) OK. All could read and write, and Sibyl attended school during the past fall. Theodore worked for wages as a hardware salesman.
