- REFERENCES:
1. (London,England) A Benjamin Hawes was captured and sentenced for stealing a womans purse- shipped to Virginia- landind in1730.
2. Probably the same Benjamin is noted as serving in the Virginia Militia in 1746.
3. In 1750 a Benjamin Hawes is added to the Titheables (Taxables List) of Augusta Virginia.
4. Court Order to bind Benjamin Haws (possibly son of Benjamin -then Deceased ? )
to Church Warden in Augusta Co., Va. 1752 Indentured 1753 to serve until of Full age (21).

5. An orphan Samuel Hawes is indentured in Augusta Virginia in 1757--possibly a
brother of the orphan Benjamin.
